Reservoir Group Completes Fourth Acquisition

Completion of its fourth deal in less than a year is ensuring that Reservoir Group is on track to achieve its global ambitions.

The group, which aims to become a global leader in integrated downhole drilling products and services to the oil and gas industry, has acquired London-based Storecore.

Storecore specialises in the storage and handling of core samples. These rock samples, when analysed by geologists, help oil and gas operators pinpoint the location of hydrocarbon reserves and how best to exploit them.

This acquisition will add another dimension to existing Reservoir Group companies Corpro and Kirk Petrophysics. Corpro specialises in the extraction of “cores” while Kirk Petrophysics has developed specific technologies which protect the condition of the cores whilst being stored, handled and transported.

Jean Valery Garcia, managing director of Kirk Petrophysics and now Storecore said:“Too often core storage is not given the attention required. Core samples are the long-lasting witness of the characteristics of the oilfield reservoir. They are very expensive to extract and, if stored properly they retain their value.

Pascal Bartette, chief executive officer of Reservoir Group added: Storecore has significant growth potential particularly when combined with the complementary services of Corpro and Kirk Petrophysics. We can now provide a full coring service from extraction to protecting, handling and transporting, which allows our clients to maximise the value still existing in their old cores.

Storecore also provides the group with a strategic London base, from which we can further expand this specialised, comprehensive service.

This acquisition underlines our strategy of building a critical mass that gives us a global reach and generates synergies within the group allowing our companies to realise their full growth potential more quickly and effectively.

Reservoir Group, which is backed by Houston and Aberdeen based Private Equity firm, SCF Partners, now has six companies operating in the areas of drilling, coring services as well as in completion and production tools and services.

Through organic growth and further acquisitions of niche, independent market-leading companies, Reservoir Group is seeking to become recognised as an internationally-focused market leader that offers integrated, specialized services to the down-hole drilling, completion and production sectors.

The Reservoir Group now comprises Corpro, Kirk Petrophysics, Storecore, Dowdco and Omega Data Solutions.
