The rig site handling of unconsolidated core is a risky process that might hamper core integrity if appropriate procedures are utilized.

The main purpose of core preservation is to retain the pore fluids in the undisturbed core samples thus preventing saturation and wettability alteration.

Cases of invasion of core-stabilization products into fractures are often seen. This represents a common and often serious problem in the subsequent geological description of slabbed cores.

CORIAS (Core Interpretation Assistance)

The Corias AS3D digitizer is the only way to perform fracture analysis on old slabbed or broken cores.

AS3D goniometer
With the AS3D system the collection of data is done by direct digitization on the cores and the orientation of all planes and lines existing on the cores is done by computer. This procedure is based on a 3D digitization operation. The coupled software package allows the input of geological description of planes and then instantaneous drawing of various types of diagrams

Fractures analysis
Corias geologists are specialized in fracture analysis. From data collecting to drawing the results, they take care of all information regarding the structural analysis of the cores. Natural or induced, all fractures will be collected and described.

Reorientation
Corias has long experience in analysis of oriented cores and propose an on site reorientation with immediate structural analysis and report.
