Headquartered in Oklahoma, GeoSearch works with a number of major operators and independent oil and gas companies. With 12 locations across the United States and more than 75 active operating units, it has vast experience across the various US basins providing geological consulting services, vertical and horizontal well logs, instrumentation, digital cuttings photography and CO2 monitoring.
The fifth acquisition by the Group this year, all 232 personnel currently employed by GeoSearch remain in the business, which will join with Reservoir Group’s existing surface logging services and unite under the Empirica brand.
Empirica will focus on surface logging, providing a number of specialist services and market-leading mudlogging and surface measurements designed to assist operators in the exploration and development of hydrocarbon reservoirs.
Encompassing existing Reservoir Group member organisations including The Mudlogging Company, which has more than 35 years’ experience onshore US, Empirica has an international track record spanning China, Indonesia, Venezuela and offshore Africa.
With the addition of GeoSearch, Empirica will have more than 150 units and upwards of 450 personnel operating globally from its existing facility in Houston.
Reservoir Group chief executive officer, Pascal Bartette commented: “The acquisition of GeoSearch brings tremendous strength to our surface logging services. Operating as Empirica, and combined with our existing surface logging expertise, our ambition is to be the provider of choice wherever our clients operate.
“We will achieve this by combining our years of experience with specialist services and innovative technologies, delivered by the very best people. With that, we welcome GeoSearch and its team to the Reservoir Group club.”
Chief executive of GeoSearch, Joe Struckel, said: “GeoSearch has dedicated itself to the well logging and environmental testing needs of the oil exploration industry for more than 28 years, and this acquisition will enable the company’s experienced operational geologists and personnel to provide its service offering across the world.
“The combination of Reservoir Group's international footprint, complemented by its excellent reputation, innovative technology and the backing of the wider Empirica network, will help drive forward the success and opportunities currently being enjoyed by GeoSearch’s employees.
“This is an outcome that is full of potential for GeoSearch personnel, customers and stakeholders."
