Kirk Petrophysics™ has become increasingly involved in analytical projects for our customers, drawing upon many years’ experience and in-house expertise.
A full suite of routine analysis is available, while we can also integrate further analyses into a single report focused on the particular objective(s) of the study.
Our headquarter facility includes over 5,000sq ft of dedicated laboratory, analytical services and office space. Purpose-built laboratories exist for thin section preparation, core analysis and rock mechanics as well as a core processing laboratory where cores remain available for inspection whilst undergoing analyses. Each laboratory is fully equipped, with duplicate sets of equipment available where appropriate, to ensure processing time is reduced to a minimum. For example, multiple soxhlet cleaning systems installed in walk-in fume cupboards allow a high throughput of sample cleaning, enabling subsequent analysis to be conducted with minimal delay.
Our office space includes dedicated areas for petrography, sedimentology and operations, as well as an area available to associate specialists potentially involved with any given project. ‘Hot shot’ analyses are available – and made all the more efficient by having specialists working in the same location as the core. A thin section laboratory allows in-house preparation and description of sections, and again allows real ‘hot shot’ analysis if required – digital photomicrographs may be sent electronically to company representatives or third parties as required.
For technically complex core analysis and SCAL projects, we retain the services of an experienced external advisor to provide assistance with programme design and management, as well as day-to-day support.
