Two methods are available for the preparation of the core for archiving.

The biscuit slice may be mounted on wooden or plastic trays using clear epoxy resin to produce a permanent record of the core.

For soft lithologies or ½ cut core a removable, clear perspex cover may be fixed to the core barrel as an alternative.

In both cases the core surface is cleaned to provide a clear view of the core.

Sections may be annotated with petrophysical data and UV light photographs may be attached to each corresponding core section.
