Slabbing the core (1/2 or 1/3) is necessary to enable a sedimentological description, core photography, epoxy mounting of the biscuit slice and many other processes whether it is conducted at the wellsite or at the Core Analysis Laboratory.

Kirk Petrophysics™ use specialist core saws with lithology specific blades to ensure the best results are obtained for each core.

Stabilisation using Lithotarge® may be employed to assist the slabbing of soft sediments or fractured core.

Slabbing may be performed at the Core Analysis Laboratory or using the Core Processing Module.
