The appropriate storage of sample material is critical in maintaining its long term value - as generation of accurate and representative data is directly related to sample integrity and condition. Kirk Petrophysics, as specialists in core handling, sample storage and analysis are experts in ensuring value is retained from sample generation at the wellsite to final long term storage. Sample Storage
Kirk Petrophysics™ operate two sample storage facilities in the UK – the new facility in Guildford, UK also houses the core analysis laboratories and Head Office while a satellite facility in Aberdeen provides local support for North Sea operations. In addition client specific storage facilities have been established overseas. Sister company Interica provides secure digital data and tape storage from two facilities in the UK. Material is stored under appropriate environmental conditions and temperature and humidity is continually monitored. Security and confidentiality is also paramount. 24 hour monitored CCTV plus an alarm system linked to Redcare provides a high level of security. Internally access is limited by zone. All sample types of any quantity may be stored including core, cuttings, oil samples, PVT samples etc. On arrival material is checked, catalogued and any maintenance required conducted before the material is packed for storage and installed into the racking system.
Sampling and Sample Transfer
Availability of trained technicians and specialist equipment allows any form of sampling to be conducted – from providing sample splits of cuttings to specialist plugging of soft sediments. Transfer of core or other fragile sample types may be monitored using the Lithotrack. In addition, on site specialists may advise on sampling strategy and analysis. All sample transfers are managed through the Data Management suite of services.
