The Core Processing Module provides a platform for the deployment of a full range of services to accelerate the sampling process and data acquisition.
The layout of the module was designed by core specialists to ensure efficient operation throughout the core handling process. Specific areas for sampling, plugging, trimming and preservation operations have been incorporated to optimise processing while minimising the risk of mishandling.
The Core Processing Module provides a safe and user-friendly working environment for the crew responsible for the core handling/preservation operation.
A full range of services
A full range of core processing is available including slabbing the core, plugging/trimming, core preservation using Lithoseal™ wax, core photography in white and ultraviolet light, epoxy mounted resinated sections.
Space is allocated for laboratory equipment to allow on site “quick look” core studies including petrophysical or structural analysis. Specialists may also be accommodated – including sedimentologists and palaeontologists to perform further analyses.
The processing unit is designed as an integrated stand-alone facility to speed the sampling process which allows dispatch of samples to the core laborarory at the earliest opportunity. The resultant improved availability of formation evaluation data allows for faster decision making.
Flexibility and adaptablity
The Core Processing Module is certified to be used offshore but may equally be set up onshore – either at the wellsite or at a remote base.
In all cases equipment is available to process full length core in the inner barrel, reducing the processing time at the wellsite and avoiding excessive handling of the core.
Designed to be used in harsh environments in remote areas the module has been successfully proven in the Gulf of Guinea.
